Aviation Academy – New Graduates Are Needed Now More Than Ever
You may or may not have realized that there has been a hiring freeze within the commercial airline industry. Pilots have not been in demand as they once were. However, this is changing. There has been a lot of turmoil worldwide that has affected fuel costs, air travel security and problems with air traffic control and their infrastructure. These circumstances have led to a surge for new pilots and many will be grads of an aviation academy.
Business is now a truly global event. Large corporations, unlike anytime in history are branching out into foreign markets. In fact, it is a requirement for many corporations to expand globally or they will not be in business for long. This means they will be sending their executives and employees overseas to run their offices, especially in China.
This is a must for any large corporation. Without worldwide expansion a big company will usually not survive in this new economy. There have been changes in legislation that will affect the length of time pilots need to rest, train and work. Natural disaster around the world have affected travel and fuel costs this year. There are many reasons why airlines are now putting on a hiring push.
They will start to recruit from smaller, local and regional airlines, as well as, air academy graduates. Since so many flights are now trans continental the airline companies are buying more planes and hiring more pilots. As an example, a newly created route from Chicago to Shanghai will require a company to hire 40 extra pilots. Flights within the country are picking up as the economy does and by law, pilots must retire at the age of 65.
As pilots retire, higher up positions will open up. These will most likely be filled through promotion but, that leaves plenty of spots in the lower levels to start a career in. Flight paths and locations will be added to rosters as well. This is important to keep in mind because with every new overseas flight offered, 40 pilots need to be assigned to it. This is a very exciting time to get into aviation.
This surge will continue over the next ten years. Global business and travel will continue to expand and assure pilots much work for the future. Another area that is growing and would be an excellent place for a graduate of an aviation academy to start his or her career would be with unmanned aircraft. Drones if you will. These are primarily for military applications however, many security and firefighter missions use unmanned aircraft as an advancement and enhancement to their force.
