Flight training can be a daunting prospect but an incredibly satisfying process. To help you decide whether it is for you or not, here is a summary of the two main learning areas involved.

Actual flying

During your pilot training you will need to fly a minimum of 45 hours, 25 hours of these must be under dual instruction, and 10 hours must be solo flying, 5 hours of which have to include cross-country flying, and landing at two aerodromes other than the one at your flight training school. The remaining 10 hours can be either under instruction or alone, depending on what you and your instructor feel you need.

Initially you will spend your flying hours learning basic aircraft handling skills, in and around your home aerodrome. You will then move on to circuit training, in which you will learn how to safely take off and land the plane.

Once you have made your first successful solo flight, you will be taught navigation skills, to the level that is required for the license.

Theory

You will also be instructed in flying theory. There are seven separate examinations involved in completing your pilot training, and these are: Air law (which you must pass before making your first solo flight), Human performance and limitations, Meteorology, Navigation, Flight performance and planning, Aircraft general and principles of flight, and Radio telephony. The subject matter itself is not difficult, but there is a good deal to learn.

Your instructor will normally be confident in your ability to pass the tests before he or she recommends you take each one, so you should have little to worry about in terms of your own competence at each stage.

However, you will need to take responsibility for studying at home, so be prepared to set aside time for reading, absorbing, and memorizing all the facts and figures you will need.

You need to complete all seven modules within 12 months of passing your first one, but you have two years from that date to complete the flight training, so it's a good idea to really concentrate on the theory and get those tests out of the way in good time. Then you can spend the rest of your time doing the actual flying without having to worry about the theory except in practice, which is, of course, what it is all about.

Flying is a wonderful experience but, of course, there are dangers involved. The training is there to make sure every pilot learns what is needed to reduce the dangers as much as possible. There may be times when you find the learning process frustrating, especially when you are studying at home, but the end result is certainly worth the time and effort. Keep remembering what you're doing it for—the ability to fly yourself, alone and safely, to wherever you wish, at any time you feel like it—and you'll find the motivation you need at those low points!

Where Can I Get Support Anywhere To Ensure I Make It As A Commercial Pilot?

Deciding to be a pilot is not something everyone will not consider as a profession nor is pilot education something affordable for everyone.
To address the financial part, there are some institutions and programs that may help you pay for training and certificates needed to become a pilot. Cadet pilot scholarship and sponsorship schemes are being offered by the government and airlines for qualified trainees. All you have to do is make sure you meet their requirements and standards. A commercial pilot flying career cost around US000 to 000 so these scholarships really help a lot. There are a few conditions, but essentially they're of minor importance to the fact they help you save a lot. Airline cadet pilots also have a guaranteed job after training since they are bonded to the airline company for an average of 7 to 15 years.
Aside from the government and commercial airlines, you could also get a lot of help from different flying clubs. One aim of the flying club is to help you to lower the expenses so one could complete the flight training requirements with less expense.
Moreover, for someone who aspires to start a commercial pilot career, the help of a mentor or a mentoring program is indispensible. A good mentor helps you avoid falling into traps that would hinder your goal of becoming a pilot. He or she ideally can provide you with wisdom that could guide your decisions- either or both in training and job choices. Apart from that, a mentor will certainly be a key to you landing a coveted airline interviews by giving pointers that would help his or her student prepare and do well in the interview itself.
Most big time airline opportunities come only once in a pilot's career. The standards and qualifications are certainly high. Without any good counsel, all the hard earned flight hours and the hard earned money for training may come to waste. Personal skills and excellence will not be enough, working with a mentor with high credibility intensifies your chances of making it through the interviews by large airline companies than those who have none.
However, keep in mind that having a so-so mentor is no better than not having one. Read below some guidelines to consider to help you make sure that you find a mentor that is suitable and helpful to jumpstarting your flying career.
1. Find someone who has a common goal and the same interest with you. That interest should only be about working together to make your career as a pilot as fruitful as possible.
2. Somebody with a higher position and more experience from your company or club is suitable to be a mentor. If not from your club, your mentor should be someone excellent, motivated and passionate, and still within the aviation industry.
3. Most importantly, it is all about respect. Find someone that you greatly respect and admire to be your mentor. You can still be friends with him or her but respect should be valued more.

How Do I Guarantee I Make It As A Commercial Pilot?
Your road to becoming a commercial pilot largely lies on your training, skills and determination. One is most likely to attain a successful and fruitful flying career if he or she achieved an edge in training and if he or she did well during his or her license preparation. Did you know that your mindset and reputation can be crucial?
But as we often hear, no man is an island. That phrase is indeed a cliche but it does not mean it is any less than true. A pilot just starting in his career does not know everything there is about being a pilot in the same way that a person who sets foot in a foreign land for the first time does not know which roads lead too where. He brings out a travel guide and that could help, sure, but if he is not sure about certain details that are not fully discussed in the book, the book would not be able to answer back. It follows, therefore, that entering a mentoring program would be able to help to optimize the potentials of a budding pilot career.
Who would know better than a person who has actually undergone the whole pilot training process? Who would know every street and alley by heart than the native born and raised in a certain city? I guess the idea has already been pointed out. To make sure that you really make it to become a successful commercial pilot, you'll need to enlist the help of mentors, people of higher ranks and experience to give you pieces of unsolicited advice and guide your career choices. There is such a thing.
You've been to flight school, got your type ratings, and a very promising career is ahead of you. After all the training that you have exerted much hard work, determination, effort into, you wouldn't want to ruin your future by making wrong choices because you do not know much about them. Everyone knows flight school is relatively expensive; the fee to pay to become a pilot is relatively huge- leaving almost no room for any wrong step or unwise career decision. This makes the risk is really high. You make a wrong choice and your flying career is at risk.
A good mentor helps you avoid falling into these kinds of trap as much as possible. He or she ideally can provide you with wisdom that could guide your decisions- either or both in training and job choices. Not only can he or she teach you a thing or two, a mentor will certainly be a key to you landing on coveted airline job interviews. A credible mentor also imparts pointers and helps his or her student prepare and do well in the interview itself. Big airline company interviews do not come knocking at everyone's door so you better be fully ready to make the most of your opportunity. Perhaps the keyword here is credibility. Along with your personal skills and excellence, working with a mentor with high credibility intensifies your chances of getting and making it through the interviews by big time airline companies than those who have none. It’s like your tapping in to their experience while building your own.

The pilot presentation never aired, but Warner Bros. did include it on a DVD set with all of their 2007-08 pilots that were ordered to series.

What is it like flying for an airline?

Flying an airplane, jet or helicopter is like traveling using a time machine. It can bring you to any destination or place which can give you so much amazement. Flying an aircraft seems to be a great adventure that you will enjoy. If you really love adventure, this is the most appropriate career for you. Being able to fly and explore the wonders of the world is such a wonderful and spectacular experience that you might wish to have and this is a great opportunity that you have to grab. Flying for an airline is a great privilege for you to prove yourself and showcase your skills. This will open your doors for you to further develop yourself, your personality, including the way you handle your temper and deal with people. As you fly an aircraft, it seems like you are the “director”. As the “director”, you set the direction for the passengers. Thus, you have to have a clear mind and direction to properly reach the destination where you are assigned to. It is like you are driving your own life. Similar to flying, you may experience problems during your flight, but with your calculated decisions and actions you master during your training, you will be able to complete your flight successfully. You are the master! You are the controller! You control your own aircraft. You may choose to make it fast or take it slowly. Just keep in mind that since you are a pilot, you are not only on your own. You have to think of your passengers who depend so much on you for their safety. Being a pilot entails a great responsibility not only for yourself but also to your passengers. Since they are in your aircraft, you have to ensure you keep them safe and sound. You know what,? It is so fulfilling to become a pilot. Why? Because becoming a pilot gives you the opportunities to work with people and offer your service to others particularly to your passengers. Just imagine that, by learning how to fly and being able to fly for an airline, you are involving yourself to a service-oriented activity by just bringing your passengers to their destinations.
When you are looking for pilot training, there are a number of places that you can go to get the best training available. If you have never before piloted a plane, you will have to start with beginning training.

The first thing that you have to do is to sign up for a pilot training course. Before you can even get into the aircraft, you will first have ground classes in a classroom where you will learn the theory of how to pilot a plane. After you have finished with the classroom, it is time to head for the skies. You will start off with a small engine plane with an instructor who will show you not only how to fly but also how the plane works. After a certain number of assisted flying hours, you will then progress to flying solo where you will start piloting the plane yourself.

You have to think about piloting a plane just as you would about when you first learned to drive a car. Remember when you first began driving a car? You thought it was easy to do until you actually got behind the wheel in which to do so. When you actually had control of the car, it seemed like a different vehicle altogether. The car was not as easy to control as you thought it would be.

When you first go up in a small craft plane, you may feel the same way. Don't let that worry you though as the instructor will be able to help you each step along the way. Eventually, you learned how to drive a car easily until it became second nature to you. The same holds true when you are learning how to fly a plane.

After you have gone up with the instructor several times and it is determined that you are able to fly the plane yourself, you will get to do so. By this time, you should feel more confident in your abilities on how to take off and land as well as steer the plane and use radio controls. Once you learn how to do this, you are pretty much set to be able to get your license as a pilot.

While you will start out learning how to pilot a small, single engine aircraft plane, you can then go on to learn how to fly larger planes. All of this takes a lot of time and plenty of flying lessons. The more flying time you log in, the more experience you will gain in flying a plane. You need to have both a combination of vast experience as well as flight time in order to be licensed to fly commercial airplanes.

There are many opportunities for those who know how to fly a plane. You can take cargo as well as passengers on short runs in a smaller aircraft. If you become a commercial pilot, you may be able to fly a large jet. Like everything else, learning how to fly a plane takes a lot of time, persistence and perseverance.
